Guardiola makes prediction on Neymar’s future amid Barcelona link

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said that Neymar remains an extraordinary player but he cannot judge whether the Brazilian would be a success on his potential return to the Camp Nou. The 27-year-old is currently in the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain but he has been touted to make the comeback with the Blaugrana during the ongoing transfer window.

Speaking to Ara, Guardiola highlighted that the Brazilian remains a potent force when it comes to the attacking facet of the game but cannot predict whether he can once more be successful with the Blaugrana, he said: “Neymar is an extraordinary player. But I don't know. It's like if I go back to Barcelona, I am not the same person, and I don't know if Neymar would be the same. Well, he is great, nobody doubts it.”

Thomas Tuchel hopeful of continuing with PSG next term

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has indicated that he is hopeful of continuing at the helm next season despite the club’s average campaign. The Capital outfit had been expected to celebrate a domestic double after celebrating the league title earlier in the month, but the same did not happen following their shock penalty shoot-out defeat to Rennes in the Coupe de France final.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel admitted that he would prefer to continue working with the Parisian outfit next season despite the disappointing end to the campaign. He added that he cannot explain the outcome of the game, considering his players were cruising during the early phase of the Cup final.

Dani Alves says that Neymar might be one of his closest buddies on the Football circuit, but his behavior during the presentation ceremony at the conclusion of the domestic cup final in France was totally uncalled for and he is not going to even try to defend it.

Alves and Neymar not only play alongside each other in club Football, but they are compatriots as well and represent the same country at the international level and hence share a very close relationship.

Dani Alves speaks on his Paris Saint-Germain future

Brazil international Dani Alves has indicated that he would be willing to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain beyond the current campaign. The 35-year-old has been with the French outfit for the past 20 months where he has managed to command a regular starting role despite the competition from Thomas Meunier.

Speaking to reporters, Alves said that he has no plans of hanging up his boots in the near future but his stay with Les Parisiens depends on the board’s decision, he said: "It doesn't depend on me, but if it were down to me then of course. People are marked down for their age — once you get past 30, people look at you a bit funny. When you get to 35 the questions are all 'when are you going to stop?' Calm down! I decide when I am going to stop. It's the old story, do you want a normal car, or something top of the range? That is how I am — the older I am, the more expensive I am!"

Dani Alves could be the Key player for PSG against United.

Dani Alves has an enigmatic personality which has resulted in loads of titles anywhere he goes and still makes him a relevant player for PSG despite turning 35 last year. There was a funny meme which was circulating on Twitter in which it was revealed that Alves had played in all positions for the Paris side.

The former Barcelona ace has been one of the most important players during this period of injuries at the club which has seen the squad laid bare ahead of the clash with United.
The run of injuries has seen Veratti, Neymar, Cavani and Thomas Meunier sidelined for spells. This has resulted in coach Thomas Tuchel tinkering with the formation as the club has departed from his favoured 4-3-3 formation. Alves has played as a right back, left back, centre midfielder and attacker during this period.

Timothy Weah reveals Dani Alves encouraged him to join Celtic

Paris Saint-Germain teenager Timothy Weah has revealed that he had spoken with the likes of Thomas Meunier and Dani Alves prior to securing his temporary move to Celtic. The United States footballer has been regarded as one of the best upcoming prospects in the French Ligue 1 and he has taken the opportunity to earn valuable experience with the Hoops after barring featuring for Les Parisiens during the first half of the season.

Speaking to reporters, Weah highlighted that he did not speak with Neymar regarding the potential move but said that the likes of Alves and Meunier had issued him the go-ahead to join the Scottish champions, he told: “I didn’t go to him [Neymar] and speak to him one-on-one about coming to Celtic but I kinda spoke to other team-mates like Thomas Meunier and Dani Alves. They said it’s good to go out and get experience and they felt Celtic was the best club because you’re getting that. It’s all in the package — great team, great supporters, great stadium, great coaching staff, so it’s a great place to come and learn.”

Dani Alves believes Kylian Mbappe has yet to reach Neymar’s level

Paris Saint-Germain star Dani Alves has said that Kylian Mbappe has yet to reach the level of Neymar despite making excellent progress since his move to Parc des Princes. The France international had a wonderful summer where he was instrumental towards Les Bleus’ World Cup triumph and he has continued with the same of vein of form for Les Parisiens this term, where they have the perfect league record after 14 matches.

Despite this, Alves remains adamant that Mbappe is still far off from matching Neymar’s profile, but could become one of the world’s best in years to come, he added: "I believe Neymar and Mbappe have different profiles. Mbappe will become one of the historical players in football, but I believe Neymar has already reached that level. Mbappe is still in the process of getting there. But I think that if Mbappe is clever, which he is, he will not waste the opportunity to learn from Neymar. I say that because Neymar learned a lot from [Lionel] Messi. It is a chain of learning, a sequence."

Barcelona boss insists Lionel Messi will return to Argentina duty

Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde has indicated that Lionel Messi will eventually make his comeback with Argentina after an extended rest. The Blaugrana forward has personally asked to be excluded from recent call-ups to the national team but Valverde believes the Argentine will return to the country’s mix sooner rather than later.

In a report covered by ESPN FC, Valverde indicated that Messi’s non-involvement with Argentina is only a positive for the club but he does not see this happening in the long-run, he said: “If Messi doesn't go to the national team, he can be more rested for Barcelona. But we know that he wants to go to the national team, and he will go. The best news for Barcelona is, if Messi goes to the national team, that he is happy, and that is what we want to happen. We want him to do well wherever he is, and what he wants is to do many things with the Argentina national team.”

Dani Alves backs Lionel Messi after ‘The Best’ omission

Paris Saint-Germain star Dani Alves has backed former teammate Lionel Messi after he was shockingly omitted from The Best awards shortlist by FIFA. Mohamed Salah, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Luka Modric were named as the nominees for the accolade but Alves believes it is unjust for Messi to be excluded after what he had achieved with Barcelona last term.

Speaking to reporters, Alves indicated that the exclusion was unfair to his former Barcelona teammate and believed that the voting panel were more focused on his international performance rather than considering the club form into regard, he said: “It's unjust that Messi was not nominated for The Best, It's not just that they have only looked at what he has done with Argentina and not what he has done with Barcelona.”
