Dani Alves has an enigmatic personality which has resulted in loads of titles anywhere he goes and still makes him a relevant player for PSG despite turning 35 last year. There was a funny meme which was circulating on Twitter in which it was revealed that Alves had played in all positions for the Paris side.
The former Barcelona ace has been one of the most important players during this period of injuries at the club which has seen the squad laid bare ahead of the clash with United.
The run of injuries has seen Veratti, Neymar, Cavani and Thomas Meunier sidelined for spells. This has resulted in coach Thomas Tuchel tinkering with the formation as the club has departed from his favoured 4-3-3 formation. Alves has played as a right back, left back, centre midfielder and attacker during this period.
His versatility is likely to be key for PSG as he is expected to play in the defence due to the injury to Meunier. PSG despite their weakened squad are a dangerous proposition for United with Draxler, Di Maria and Mbappe expected to play up front.
United recent resurgence under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has seen the club claw back a 12 point deficit to climb into the top Four places. Anthony Martial has been key for United during this run and showed in the last game against Fulham of his ability to dominate the right left wing position.
“It would be up to the veteran defender to stop the Frenchman currently in the form of his life“ and this could be one of the greatest task “faced by the Brazillian“.
One thing Alves has shown in his career is the ability to turn up for big games and his winning mentality was one of the reasons PSG signed him last season. Tuchel would be hoping for a big performance from Alves as he looks to take a positive result back for the second leg in Paris in two weeks time.
