CB - Carles Puyol - The leader of the greatest Barcelona team of all time. Alves and Puyol won absolutely everything together.

ALVES BENCHED FOR RAYO DEFEAT

Brazilian international Dani Alves was an unused substitute as Barcelona suffered another disappointing result at home. Dani Alves was left on the bench for the entire duration of the game as Barcelona record a third straight home defeat with the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Rayo Vallecano.

Alvaro Garcia scored the first goal of the game as early as the seventh minute and it proved to be the only goal of the game which bagged the three points at stake for Rayo Vallecano.

ALVES: BARCELONA WILL BE BACK NEXT SEASON

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has made it clear that the club are still very much undergoing a development stage and that the progress is already showing on the pitch. Alves returned to the Camp Nou once again after signing a one-year contract that will see him play for the Spanish La Liga giants for at least one year, with the option to further extend the deal for another year.
One would think that at 38, Alves should be already hanging his boots and calling it quit on his career, but that has not been the case with the former Juventus star has shown that he is a fine wine and that age has nothing on him.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE DANI ALVES?

Dani Alves is back in Barca, five and a half long years after he left the club. Alves has been sort of a journeyman since he left the club, having played for Juventus, PSG, and Sao Paulo in that time. The Brazilian became the first signing of the Xavi era and has since gone on to some impressive performances since he signed.

While he has a cult following at the club, he may have irked some section of the Blaugrana fanbase by his latest statement. The menacing left-back was asked to mention players that would make his dream team, and they are a surprise omission. He selected Victor Valdez, Puyol, Xavi, and Samuel Eto’o as the best players in the four key positions on a football pitch.

ALVES TALKS MESSI, BARCELONA RETURN

Dani Alves made a surprising return to Barcelona in November 2021. The Brazilian right-back returned to the Spanish La Liga side some days after the club appointed Xavi Hernandez as their new manager. The 38-year-old was a free agent when the Catalan giants pounced on the chance to bring him back to the Nou Camp.

Brazilian defender Dani Alves became a free agent in September 2021. The veteran player refused to train at Sao Paulo due to unpaid wages on his return from national team duty at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Dani Alves was the Brazil skipper as they retained their gold medal in the football event at the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan last summer. Brazil had earlier won their maiden gold medal on home soil as they saw off Germany to win the football event at the 2016 Olympics in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.
