ALVES SCORES IN BARCA VICTORY

Dani Alves scored in injury time to complete a rout for Barcelona. Barcelona got back on track against the Greek champions, Panathinaikos, finishing their route with a goal from Daniel Alves.

The Brazilian right back's stoppage time tally made it 5-1, the Brazilian heading home a ball from Lionel Messi.

Messi finishes the day with two goals, two assists.

BARCA OFFER ALVES NEW CONTRACT

Barcelona are set to offer Manchester City target Daniel Alves a contract extension according to reports. The Brazilian remains the record transfer for a defender following his €34 million (£28.3m) switch from Sevilla in the summer of 2008, and has enjoyed a hugely successful spell in Catalunya, winning back-to-back league titles as well as the 2009 Champions League.

Marca comments that new incumbent to the presidency, Sandro Rosell, is looking to tie the 27-year-old to a long-term deal at the Nou Camp, and he is ready to commit himself to the club for the foreseeable future.

Alves open to City Move

Barcelona fullback Daniel Alves knows the door is open to a move to Manchester City.

The Brazil international knows City attempted to sign him in the summer as he waited to open new contract talks with Barca.

Alves is due to begin negotiations after international week, but won't shut the door on a move to City.

AS says City officials have maintained contact and assured Alves: "If there are problems, know that our door is always open."

Dani: Ibra Lacked Patience

Barcelona's Dani Alves feels Zlatan Ibrahimovic lacked the patience to fit into the club's playing system.

Ibrahimovic moved to AC Milan after only one season with the Catalans. With the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Iniesta dominating on the pitch, the striker failed to have the same impact as he had had at Inter Milan.

Commenting on the reasons for his departure, Alves told El Mundo Deportivo: "Perhaps 'Ibra' lacked patience, maybe he did not fit in our team and our game system and did not wait long enough to adapt."

Alves Happy at Barca

There has been much speculation going around about whether or not Dani Alves will be offered a new contract extension at Camp Nou but Alves is confident that he will be with the Spanish giants for years to come. With just 2 years remaining on Alves’s contract, Barcelona have yet not to offer the Brazilian defender a extension on his contract.
