Eric Abidal urges Club to offer Dani a new Offer

Former Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has urged the club to offer a new contract to defender Dani Alves, who he says is the best right back in the world even now.

The Brazilian was brought to the club in 2008 for around £ 25 million, which then made him one of the world’s most expensive defenders. He has proved the Catalan club that they were correct in making the decision to spend such a vast amount of money.

His presence was a major factor in the club lifting numerous league titles and Champions League trophies under the reign of Pep Guardiola.

Alves time Running Out?

The Brazilian defender Daniel Alves joined Barcelona on July of 2008 and ever since then he was added to the Spanish club, his presence in Camp Nou has been unmistakable as the Brazilian right-back had and has a commanding presence in his position which helped him in his journey of becoming one of the Europe’s finest defenders at one point in time.

Alves Wants To See Out Contract

After being heavily linked with a move away from the Camp Nou, Brazilian defender Dani Alves has claimed that he wants to see out his contract at Barcelona. The 31-year-old is regarded as one of the best right backs in the world. He has been a major reason towards Lionel Messi scoring the number of goals that he has done in the last five years. After joining the club from Sevilla for £ 25 million several years ago, Alves looks like coming to the end of his spell at the Camp Nou. He has been linked with a move to French club Monaco in the last few months.

Alves Accepts Blame for Copa del Rey

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves claims that he is ready to share the blame for the Copa del Rey final defeat against Real Madrid. Barcelona came into the match with a real hope of winning the first title of the season and also ending the disappointment of last week’s results. Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-final stage itself at the hands of Atletico Madrid. This was the first time in the last seven seasons that they have failed to reach the semifinals. Further, they have had a setback in the league title race after the 1-0 defeat against Granada.

ALL THE WAY

Dani Alves has said that in the ongoing season, La Liga title race will go all the way down to the wire.

The top 3 sides in the La Liga points table are almost going neck and neck. There hasn’t been much difference between their points’ tally and the outcome of one game can change their positions in the table.

Alves reckons that the side which has to win the league this season will have to play extraordinarily well.

FIFA WORLD XI

The Brazilian defender of Barcelona, Daniel Alves was placed into the FIFPro World XI for the 3rd consecutive year. It was a sign of the superb seasons he has been enjoying in Barcelona but despite the success he has reached in the Catalan club, Alves revealed that he does not plan on finishing his football career in Barcelona.

"I am not considering retiring at Barcelona because I want to end my career where I started it: at Bahia," the Brazil international told Sport.

INJURIES TAKE TOLL

Barcelona’s list of injured players has been increasing in the past month with Puyol, Jordi Alba and Daniel Alves being some of the more recent additions and this is taking a toll to the Catalan team that lost their 1st La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao.

Martino responded after losing his first La Liga match with Barcelona by saying "it was only one game. If I could, I would sign off to win the next 20 and lose one."

ALVES BACKS CELTIC

Playing in what many consider to be the best team in history Daniel Alves has been a consistent player throughout the history of Barcelona. Not only for Pep Guardiola but as well as all the other managers that have stepped in to fill in the spot.

So far with a unbeaten in this season of the Spanish League La Liga, Barcelona are at the top of the standings with 28 points and a narrow 2-1 victory when they battled it out against their rivals Real Madrid, one of their main powerhouses is Daniel Alves.

NEW KEEPER

Barcelona will be looking for a new goalkeeper after current number one Victor Valdes announced at the start of last season that he will be leaving Barcelona in the upcoming summer.

Valdes has been at Barcelona since the start of his career and it is understood that he is seeking a new challenge. A number of names have been touted as possible replacements. This is going to be one of the highest possible positions for a goalkeeper given that Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world.
