The Brazilian defender Daniel Alves joined Barcelona on July of 2008 and ever since then he was added to the Spanish club, his presence in Camp Nou has been unmistakable as the Brazilian right-back had and has a commanding presence in his position which helped him in his journey of becoming one of the Europe’s finest defenders at one point in time.
As the seasons and years passed by Alves continued being the number one choice in the right-back position for Barcelona and even at his 31 years of age he still remains being a top choice but it seems like his time is running out as Luis Enrique signed Douglas in the summer transfer window, a player that performs in the same position as Dani Alves but is 7 years younger than Alves.
The Sporting Director of Barcelona is Andoni Zubizarreta and he has been the man revealing details to the public concerning the current situation involving Dani Alves and if whether or not he will be remaining as a player of Barcelona for another season and Zubizarreta announced that the contract of Dani Alves expires in 2015 but there are no plans of extending his contract.
"I insist that both parties have agreed that his current contract will expire in 2015. It doesn’t include any extension clause. We are delighted to have him here with us and with the way he is performing." Zubizarreta said during a press conference
When the time comes for Dani Alves to leave Barcelona, the former player of Sao Paulo Douglas is the man that is expected to follow the legacy of Alves at Camp Nou.
Dani Alves meanwhile will have to decide which club will he join and spend the last few years of his career but even at his fairly elevated age, there are a few top European clubs that have already shown interest in signing the Brazilian right-back.
