ALVES WANTS BARCA STAY

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has confirmed that he wants to remain at the club till the end of this current contract. The Brazilian defender has been linked with a move away from Barcelona after a dip in his performances lately.

The former Sevilla defender was dropped for the second leg encounter against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final. It was a match that Barcelona managed to draw 2-2. As a result, they were eliminated from the Champions League.

Following the exit from the Champions League, Barcelona manager Guardiola announced his decision to step down from his post. Dani Alves was signed by Guardiola, which has sparked rumours that he might leave at the end of the season.

DANI PLAYS MIND-GAMES

The mind games between Barcelona and Chelsea have begun ahead of the meeting between the two clubs in the semi-final of the Champions League, as Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that it was the lack of courage within Chelsea that was the reason for their elimination from the highly controversial 2009 Champions League.

A stoppage time goal from Iniesta enabled Barcelona to go into the final at the expense of Chelsea on away goals, but the London club were clearly denied at least four good penalty shouts. However, Dani Alves has said that Barcelona players can do nothing about the refereeing decisions, but they managed to go to the next round because of their will to win.

BENITEZ RUES MISSED ALVES CHANCE

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has said that his club came extremely close to signing Barcelona right back Dani Alves a few seasons ago.

However, they had to pull out of the deal due to the lack of cash to sign the right back, who is regarded by many to be the best in the world.

The Spaniard has also revealed that he tried to sign Fiorentina star Stevan Jovetic while he was at Liverpool. Benitez has often been criticised for not being able to build the team capable of winning the league, despite having more than half a decade to do so. However, the former Valencia manager reckons that it was due to the lack of cash he was unable to bring in quality talent to Anfield.

ALVES WANTS PERSPECTIVE

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that the club and the players should take responsibility if manager Pep Guardiola leaves the club in the summer.

Guardiola is out of contract with Barcelona at the end of the season. His contract will be coming to an end on June 30, but there seems to be no sign of negotiation. This is because Guardiola has said that he still needs more time to solve his future. There has been speculation that Guardiola is finally thinking that he has achieved everything with Barcelona and wants a new challenge in life. It is thought that Chelsea is one of his destinations after the London club recently sacked manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Now, a replacement has been found for Andre Villas-Boas, as Chelsea have appointed assistant manager Roberto di Matteo on an interim basis, with a new boss coming in in the summer. All this appear to suggest that Guardiola is moving to Chelsea in the summer.

BARCA NEED TO FINISH THE JOB

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that the club needs to finish the job of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League in the second leg match against Bayern Leverkusen at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona come on the back of a 3-1 lead in the first leg. There have been suggestions that Barcelona will become complacent in the second leg due to the significant advantage they have in the tie. However, Dani Alves has said that it will be a match that will be regarded as one of the most important of the season by Barcelona players.

The Brazilian defender also said that the club needs to finish the job they started in the first leg. The three goals scored against Bayern Leverkusen will be one of the strong points that will make Barcelona feel secure at home.

ALVES RUES LACK OF BALANCE

Barcelona's Brazilian defender Dani Alves has said that there have been times this season when Barcelona have been lacking balance in the team, which has contributed to the 'not so great' performances in the domestic campaign so far.

As a result of it, Barcelona find themselves seven points behind leaders Real Madrid. It is often spoken that even a few point advantage in the Spanish league makes a huge difference because of the lack of competition provided by the teams other than Real Madrid and Barcelona in the division, so the seven-point advantage feels huge at the moment.

In order to avoid repetition, Barcelona coach Guardiola has changed the formation and tactics quite often the season. Dani Alves is of the opinion that it has resulted in a situation where the team does not have the right balance.

ALVES REJECTS MOURINHO SLUR

Barcelona’s victory of the Club World Cup created quite a stir of excitement among the Barcelona players and fans who were elated at the victory.

However, as always there have always been the peers trying to look for faults and find means to put the winning team down in shame. The same happened a few weeks back when Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho made critial comments about Barcelona.

However there was no stopping Dani Alves from proclaiming that Barcelona was one of the best teams of the world despite the criticism from other peer teams.

Dani Alves has been extremely happy because he put up an excellent performance which finally led to his team achieving the victory title for the cup defeating Santos in the final with a 4-0 score, with odds at close to evens to win, it was possibly the best football bet of the season. This has been their 13th trophy with coach Pep Guardiola.

ALVES SAYS JOSE IS JUST JEALOUS

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that José Mourinho is extremely jealous of the fact that Barcelona continue to win a number of trophies.

José Mourinho recently came out with the statement that criticised the fact that Barcelona had won the Club World Cup for the second time in three seasons. The Club World Cup is played between the winners of the Champions League equivalent from across the world and the winners of the Champions League. Barcelona faced Santos in the final and won comfortably 4-0 through goals from Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, and Xavi.

ALVES DOUBTS REAL TITLE CHARGE

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that the six-point advantage is that it Real Madrid are currently enjoy at the top of the la Liga table is not as significant as many people look at it.

Real Madrid had the opportunity to extend the lead to 6 points after Barcelona lost their match against Getafe. Madrid took the opportunity brilliantly with a 4-1 win over Atletico Madrid. As a result, many people feel that the balance of power has finally changed in Spain. Barcelona have been winning the title in each of the last three seasons, and it seems that they have finally lost the desire to win the title again.
