DANI ALVES SET TO JOIN MEXICAN CLUB PUMAS AS FREE AGENT AFTER BARCA EXIT

Dani Alves is set to join Mexican club Pumas as a free agent after hitting out at the manner of his exit from Barcelona. Barca did not extend the short-term contract of Alves even though the veteran right-back was hoping to stay at the club for at least the first half of next season to keep his World Cup dream alive and has left him searching for a new club this summer. The veteran Brazilian became the first signing of Xavi Hernandez at the Camp Nou last season but did not have his short-term deal at the Camp Nou renewed, despite making 17 domestic appearances in the run-in of the campaign – leaving Sergino Dest as the only other specialist right-back in their squad.

The right-back is now set to join Mexican club Pumas on a short-term deal to allow him to play regular football ahead of the World Cup in Qatar and allow him to be in the reckoning for a call-up to the final major tournament of his career. Mexican outlet Record claim that a deal is in place to sign Alves with the player set to earn $100k (£4.8k) per game for each appearance he makes for the club. It is said that the club are hopeful that the Brazilian will play 10 matches in the Apertura 2022 for Pumas over the course of his deal. DANI ALVES CONFIRMS HE WILL LEAVE LA LIGA GIANTS BARCELONA

Taking to social media, Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has announced that he will be moving on from Camp Nou this summer when his contract runs down at the end of June. Alves returned to Barcelona only seven months back, joining on a free transfer after his contract with Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo had expired. The 39-year-old came back to Camp Nou five years after leaving the club but had to wait until January earlier this year to be registered as a Barcelona player and make his second debut for the Blaugrana.

Alves featured 16 times across all competitions during the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, contributing with a goal and three assists. He was not registered in the UEFA Europa League squad that limited the number of matches he played. The Brazilian international had signed a short-term contract with Barcelona that runs out on June 30. But, there had been talks about a potential extension for the veteran defender only until the end of the year so that he can be in top shape for the FIFA World Cup later this year. 1. 4-3-3

CB – Giorgio Chiellini – Another who Alves only spent one year with. Chiellini and Alves were fantastic in a stoic Juventus defence. Continue reading BEST XI THAT BARCELONA DEFENDER DANI ALVES HAS PLAYED WITH

DANI ALVES REQUESTS SHORT-TERM CONTRACT EXTENSION AT BARCA

Dani Alves has reportedly requested Barcelona for a short-term contract extension, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season. According to GOAL, Barcelona defender Dani Alves is seeking a new contract from the club as his current deal stands to run out at the end of the next month.

Alves enjoyed a successful stint at Barcelona between 2008 and 2016 before leaving the club on a free transfer. The Brazilian had stints at Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Sao Paulo before returning to Camp Nou in November last year, signing on a Bosman deal when his contract with Sao Paulo ran down. ALVES BENCHED FOR RAYO DEFEAT

Brazilian international Dani Alves was an unused substitute as Barcelona suffered another disappointing result at home. Dani Alves was left on the bench for the entire duration of the game as Barcelona record a third straight home defeat with the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Rayo Vallecano.

Alvaro Garcia scored the first goal of the game as early as the seventh minute and it proved to be the only goal of the game which bagged the three points at stake for Rayo Vallecano.

The improvement at Barcelona under new manager Xavi Hernandez has been evident thanks in part to the new signings. Dani Alves is one of the new signings at the club after he made a return to play for the Catalan giants. Alves decided to leave Sao Paulo in the Brazilian league due to the debts owed the player. The right-back was released by mutual consent after failing to report for training at Sao Paulo.

Apart from Dani Alves, the other new signings at Barcelona are Gabonese star Pierre-EmerickAubameyang, Spanish international Ferran Torres and speedy Spanish winger AdamaTraore. Aubameyang signed for Barcelona as a free agent in January after his contract at Arsenal came to an end mutually. Traore signed for Barcelona on loan from Wolves until the end of the season with the option to sign him permanently in the summer, while Torres was a permanent transfer from Premier League champions Manchester City. Alves agreed a return to Barcelona towards the end of last year, but the Brazilian star could not playuntil the start of this year as he was ineligible. The other three signings joined Barcelona in January.

Barcelona have now lost to German team Eintracht Frankfurt (Europa League), Cadiz (La Liga) and Rayo Vallecano (La Liga) in their last three home games.

ALVES PENALISED IN WIN OVER LEVANTE

Brazilian international fullback DaniAlves didn’t have the best of games as his Barcelona side left it late to secure a 3-2 away win over Levante in the Spanish La Liga last weekend.Dani Alves was given a start by manager Xavi Hernandez for the trip to face Levante in the league and he lasted 80 minutes before being replaced by French defender Christian Lenglet.

Barcelona were unable to establish a lead in the first half despite dominating possession and they went behind seven minutes into the second half when Dani Alves was penalised for a foul on Levante fullback Son. Jose Luis Morales stepped up to score the resulting spot kick and give the hosts the lead. Continue reading ALVES PENALISED IN WIN OVER LEVANTE

BEST BARCA XI AFTER JANUARY WINTER BUSINESS

Barcelona were very active in the winter window. The club managed to sign Dani Alves, Ferran Torres, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, and Adama Traore in January. For Xavi though, his new signings had an immediate impact on Barca’s season proceedings and the former La Liga champions are now in third position in the table.

In fact, Xavi was derived of the services of the sensational Pedri after he arrived. But, the player returned from his injury in January and was almost akin to a new signing for the former Al-Sadd manager. He has been running the midfield for the Blaugrana in recent weeks. ALVES MISSES OUT ON GALATASARAY WIN

Brazilian international Dani Alves was a major absentee for Barcelona in their Europa League last 16 second leg clash with Turkish Super League side Galatasaray. ALVES: BARCELONA WILL BE BACK NEXT SEASON

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has made it clear that the club are still very much undergoing a development stage and that the progress is already showing on the pitch. Alves returned to the Camp Nou once again after signing a one-year contract that will see him play for the Spanish La Liga giants for at least one year, with the option to further extend the deal for another year.
One would think that at 38, Alves should be already hanging his boots and calling it quit on his career, but that has not been the case with the former Juventus star has shown that he is a fine wine and that age has nothing on him.

Although the return of Alves sparked promising signs that the club are treading on the right path in their bid to regain their status as one of the most dreaded and best teams in the world, they have still fallen short of that reputation judging by their recent performances on the pitch. At the start of the season, most especially, Barca were a very underwhelming side and their inability to win games that they were expected to became an issue of major concern.

However, when their most recent games are put into consideration, they have been able to show enough resilience and proof that they are now a better side. Having already managed to fight their way back into the top four of the Spanish La Liga table especially from the very precarious position the were occupying at the star of the season, one would commend their progress.

Alves has now revealed that the team has become better through hard work, resilience, and dedication heading into the second half of the season, insisting that if they continue in this vein, they will become more formidable next season.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE DANI ALVES?

Dani Alves is back in Barca, five and a half long years after he left the club. Alves has been sort of a journeyman since he left the club, having played for Juventus, PSG, and Sao Paulo in that time. The Brazilian became the first signing of the Xavi era and has since gone on to some impressive performances since he signed.

While he has a cult following at the club, he may have irked some section of the Blaugrana fanbase by his latest statement. The menacing left-back was asked to mention players that would make his dream team, and they are a surprise omission. He selected Victor Valdez, Puyol, Xavi, and Samuel Eto’o as the best players in the four key positions on a football pitch.

There’s clearly no Lionel Messi in Alves’s dream team. Lionel Messi scored 672 goals for Barca, while also winning multiple trophies for the club but Alves does not think that he’s the best forward at Barca. Lionel Messi recently moved to one of the clubs that Alves played for, it would be interesting to see what he thinks of the statement made by his teammate for eight years. The pair won a total of 23 trophies in total, forming one of the deadliest partnerships that the world has ever seen.

There’s also no space for fellow countryman Ronaldinho, who is often regarded as one of the greatest playmakers the world has ever seen. Gaucho as he’s often called played for the club for five years, and was also Alves’s international teammate.

Samuel Eto’o who replaced Lionel Messi in Alves’s dream team scored 130 goals in 199 matches for the club. The Cameroonian is the only player to win back-to-back trebles with different clubs. In creating his team Alves called the striker a “machine for killing goalkeepers”, and who can argue that?
