ALVES: NEYMAR INDEFENSIBLE

Dani Alves says that Neymar might be one of his closest buddies on the Football circuit, but his behavior during the presentation ceremony at the conclusion of the domestic cup final in France was totally uncalled for and he is not going to even try to defend it.

Alves and Neymar not only play alongside each other in club Football, but they are compatriots as well and represent the same country at the international level and hence share a very close relationship.

According to Alves, as far as he knows Neymar, he is a very, very good bloke, but the only little issue with him is that he might just get carried away in the heat of the situations.
Talking about that particular incident where Neymar visibly got physical with one of the spectators who might have said something to him he didn’t like, Alves insisted that he could understand Neymar’s state of mind at that time.

PSG had ended on the wrong side of the result and Neymar was not particularly pleased about it, but the thing is even if you are angry, you can’t respond to the spectators or to anyone like that. You have to keep your emotions in check and make sure you carry yourself in a graceful way, no matter what. What Neymar did there can’t be justified by any means.

Alves reckons that Neymar will go back and think about it and will surely take a lesson from it and he is hoping that the 27-year old who is in his second season at PSG won’t take any such step in future.

Neymar’s strike rate for PSG this season has been outstanding as he has smashed the back of the net 22 times in just 27 appearances.

DANI ALVES WANTS TWO YEAR DEAL OR NOTHING

Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves is taking no chances this time at Juventus as he has reportedly asked the Turin based club for a contract extension. The full back joined last term for free from Barcelona, claiming the Catalan side was ungrateful.

After helping Juve win yet another Scudetto and reach the final of the Champions League, Alves wants guarantee for his immediate future with the move. Reports in Brazil claim the 34-year old asked Juve to extend his deal to at least 2019 or he could walk away now that there are numerous prospective employers.

There are reports that Pep Guardiola could bring the player to England for a year and that Antonio Conte is willing to open talks with him. This is aside speculation over moves to the Chinese Super League and the MLS.

In 33 games, the defender scored six goals and had seven assists for Juve. He received strong commendation for his exploits in the Champions League where Juve saw off competition from various quarters including Barcelona in the knockout stage. According to research by a ticket website, his profile and performances were one of the main reasons why Juventus tickets were in such demand last season.

Anyway there were reports that Juventus wanted to offer Alves a deal in order to ward off interests but the player is more interested in the length of such deal. He was not expected to make this much contributions when he left Barca but his display sets him apart from others even at his advanced age. He continues to be a forced to be reckoned with.

At some point there were reports that the player has a secret wish to play in the Premier League after his time in Spain and Italy. The player still has two to three years of top level football left in him. For now it is likely Juve would accede to his two year deal request.

Alves: Difficult to Rule out Barcelona

Almost everyone has written off the hopes of Barcelona getting back into the Champions League after suffering a 4-0 loss against Paris St Germain in the last 16 of the competition. No team in the history of European football has been able to overturn a 4-0 deficit from the first leg.

Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves, though, thinks that if there is any team that can achieve this feat, it may very well be the Catalan club. The Brazilian defender is widely known for his long spell with the Catalan club. He moved to the Camp Nou in the summer of 2008 for a figure of £ 25 million.

After managing to win every major honours including the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup on several occasions, Alves decided to bring his time with the Spanish club to an end. He was a surprise transfer to Juventus after letting his contract with Barcelona come to an end.

Alves is better equipped to talk about Barcelona than most of the pundits or former players. He says that the club are such a force going for that a potential comeback should not be ruled out under any instance. Barcelona have not gone out of the Champions League in the last 16 stage since 2007, such is the incredible dominance that they have had in this tournament.

“It’s very tough to come back, not because Barca can’t but because of the quality of their opponents. They press, they don’t let you play. I always want them to do as well as possible. In football, anything can happen. If anyone can produce a comeback, it’s the Barca machines,” said Alves after learning about the catastrophe suffered by his former team. Barcelona have not been recognisable to the monstrous juggernaut that won numerous trophies. Manager Luis Enrique has come under pressure this season.

Juventus Close In On History In Serie A

Juventus are on the verge of winning a historic sixth Serie A title on the spin. No team in the history of Italian football has won the crown more than five times on the bounce, with Inter Milan the last before I Bianconeri to achieve that feat during the early ’00s.

Massimiliano Allegri’s men have been irrepressible in their bid to become the first to win sixth titles on the bounce, adding to their already long list of achievements since their revival under Antonio Conte in 2011 as the dominant force in the country.

I Bianconeri hold a seven-point lead at the top of the table after suffering just four defeats in their 25 matches. Therefore it would take an uncharacteristic collapse of incomprehensible measures for Allegri’s men not to clinch the crown given their form, despite the best efforts of Roma and Napoli among the chasing teams to dislodge them from pole position.

Juve are backed in the latest bet365 Serie A betting odds at 1/12 to win the crown, highlighting their dominance at the top of the division. Allegri’s side have not allowed themselves to be put off course and that is unlikely to change, even in light of their commitments in the Champions League and the Coppa Italia in the second half of the campaign.

Defensively Daniel Alves has added a new dimension for his team since signing from Barcelona last summer. Juve have been more expansive in the final third this term due to the signing of Gonzalo Higuain, which has seen them hit the back of the net 54 times thus far.

Allegri has been less rigid with his formation at the back, relying on the versatility of his players, like Alves, Kwadwo Asamoah, Juan Cuadrado and Alex Sandro to play both at full-back and wing-back. Injuries have played a part in this change as Andrea Barzagli has been sidelined, while Giorgio Chiellini has had fitness issues as well, which has brought the best out of their team-mates.

Alves was not known for his fine defensive work during his time with Barcelona, with the Catalan club able to blast teams away with their offensive power, which the Brazilian was very much a significant part of due to his deep running from right back. However, he has managed his style with Juve becoming part of the stout backline that has been the bedrock of their push for the crown.

Allegri’s men have not been as stout as previous seasons, although their effectiveness in the final third has more than made up for their lapses at the start of the campaign. They have conceded 17 goals this term – which is unusually high for this time of year considering the most they shipped during their previous five title wins is 24 strikes.

As a result, Juve have work to do to preserve that record and they have shown signs of tightening up, keeping five clean sheets on the bounce before conceding a late consolation goal in their 4-1 hammering of Palermo last time out from Ivan Chochev. Gianluigi Buffon was furious with his team-mates following the incident, highlighting the perfection demanded at I Bianconeri.

Alves has been part of many successful teams during his career, but chasing history this term could be one of his proudest achievements. Allegri and his side are on course and should be able to see out an incredible achievement come the end of the term.

The Comeback that Dani Alves Made Possible

Barcelona’s own Lionel Messi had a talk with one of his teammates, Dani Alves during a rigorous training session at the sports center FC Barcelona.

This comes after the highly valued Luis Suarez scored a lead and had two second half goals to enable Barcelona to achieve a 2 to 1 victory over Atletico Madrid. This comes at a needed time as they were in their first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals this past Tuesday. Fernando Torres started out as a hero but quickly went to a villain in the game as he scored an opening score in the 25th minute.

However Barcelona came back in a cruel fight to the death just three days right after the Real Madrid ended the Barcelona team’s record 39 streak match which was unbeaten until that point in time. They had a 2 to 1 win at Camp Nou which came as a devastating loss for the team. Luis Enrique wanted to make sure that they avenged the win and had a vicious comeback at the Atletico when there was the 2013-2014 quarterfinals going on for the club to get their 11 consecutive win home win.

They definitely had another chance to score another goal but they couldn’t quite manage it. This is what the fans have been using as fuel for the fire in the second match for Madrid. Fans are looking forward to it and have a certain expectation of what to expect especially after the performance versus Madrid. Whilst the match has been compared to the Grand National – where any one of the top 15 horses have a realistic chance of winning it according to the latest StanJames betting odds, the small 1 goal lead certainly puts Barca in the driving seat.

Atletico however seemed to be quite content to absorb Barcelona’s attacks until Antoine was able to get the first shot. The effort sure was off target but Torres sure didn’t waste time after that and just a minute later made sure that they scored a goal against Barcelona. Hopefully these comebacks can continue and the championship is still in sights.

ALL THE WAY

Dani Alves has said that in the ongoing season, La Liga title race will go all the way down to the wire.

The top 3 sides in the La Liga points table are almost going neck and neck. There hasn’t been much difference between their points’ tally and the outcome of one game can change their positions in the table.

Alves reckons that the side which has to win the league this season will have to play extraordinarily well.

Talking to a TV channel yesterday about close competition in the league, the midfielder said, “It’s a high level tournament and you can win it only by putting up special performances.”
“Currently, three sides are in the race and all of them are strong. Let’s see what happens. As far as we are concerned, we would try being consistent right till the very end and hopefully, would win.”

“We have begun the New Year on a good note, but, we still have a long way to go. A lot of matches are remaining and we need to be at the top of our game in each one of those matches.”

In 2014, Barcelona has played a total of 7 matches and has won 5 of them. The rest two were draws. It clearly shows that they haven’t played poorly at all of late.

The thing which Barcelona has done well this year is that they have won their matches by profound margins and that’s why they are at the first position in the table. Their goal differential +44 is much better than that of their two rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

Atletico’s goal differential is +38, while, that of Real’s is +39. All these 3 teams have to play 17 more games in the league.

FIFA WORLD XI

The Brazilian defender of Barcelona, Daniel Alves was placed into the FIFPro World XI for the 3rd consecutive year. It was a sign of the superb seasons he has been enjoying in Barcelona but despite the success he has reached in the Catalan club, Alves revealed that he does not plan on finishing his football career in Barcelona.

“I am not considering retiring at Barcelona because I want to end my career where I started it: at Bahia,” the Brazil international told Sport.

“It would be hypocrite to suggest that I might retire at Barca, because that’s not really an option. Bahia is where I first got my big break. I want to keep on playing here for many more years, but I will not retire at Barcelona.”

Daniel Alves has established himself as a regular starter for Barcelona with his capabilities not only on the back of the team but going all out in the attack as he makes constant runs upfront delivering crosses to the forwards of the squad.

C.Ronaldo received the 2013 Ballon d’Or silverware on what was a very tightly contested competition as the Portuguese player barely edged out Lionel Messi on the results of the votes. Daniel Alves did say however that his opinion about who should have it is different.
“We know winning and losing. Today is Cristiano’s and we congratulate him. We must not seek excuses, though my personal opinion is different. I’m sure Messi will win again, he is happy because he is doing what he loves most.”

Lionel Messi had won the Ballon d’Or silverware for 4 consecutive but this past season was clearly not his best as he suffered from injuries that allowed C.Ronaldo to step it up and snatch the trophy away from the Argentine superstar.

INJURIES TAKE TOLL

Barcelona’s list of injured players has been increasing in the past month with Puyol, Jordi Alba and Daniel Alves being some of the more recent additions and this is taking a toll to the Catalan team that lost their 1st La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao.

Martino responded after losing his first La Liga match with Barcelona by saying “it was only one game. If I could, I would sign off to win the next 20 and lose one.”

The sensational form of C.Ronaldo is keeping the pressure on Barcelona as Real Madrid is closing the gap between themselves in La Liga standings but with the Ballon d’Or around the block, Daniel Alves said that the Portuguese winger has been in better form than everybody else in this season.

“Cristiano is in a very, very rich vein of form. This year, I think he’s slightly ahead of the rest. He’s playing very well and he’s scoring goals and that increases his chances. It’s true that he hasn’t won any trophies, but he has been in very good form’’.

“My bets are Messi and Ribery. If it isn’t Messi, I’d give it to Ribery simply because he has won everything and he has led Bayern Munich to success on all fronts. To be in for the Ballon d’Or I think that you have to win some sort of team silverware.” the Brazilian defender was quoted as saying by AS.

The Ballon d’Or has been receiving a lot of critiscm lately calling it a popularity trophy more than anything else and this happened noticeably after Sneijder achieved the treble with Inter Milan becoming the best player of the Italian club and even though he claimed the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia in 2009, the Ballon d’Or was still won by Messi.

ALVES BACKS CELTIC

Playing in what many consider to be the best team in history Daniel Alves has been a consistent player throughout the history of Barcelona. Not only for Pep Guardiola but as well as all the other managers that have stepped in to fill in the spot.

So far with a unbeaten in this season of the Spanish League La Liga, Barcelona are at the top of the standings with 28 points and a narrow 2-1 victory when they battled it out against their rivals Real Madrid, one of their main powerhouses is Daniel Alves.

Explosive runs down the flanks is what mainly characterizes the Brazilian defender who has earned his place in Brazil’s starting XI lineup alongside his rival and team mate Marcelo of Real Madrid. The Seleccao are the slim favourites to win the World Cup according to the online betting australia website, though Unibet have made Argentina the joint-favourites. Either way, everyone agrees they have a great chance.

Even with the success that the Catalan club has achieved for the past years, the Brazilian stated that improvement is always an option.

“We won’t win if we don’t improve on what we did last year,” he told their official website.
“The first half got away from us, in the second we had more possession and we created the chances to win the game. He said after their match against Almeria.

“We’ve shown our competitiveness and we try to do things in the best way possible.”

He also suggested Barcelona to make a move for Fraser Forster as Victor Valdes is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

“We have played Celtic three times in a year now and each time Forster has been fantastic,” Alves told the Spanish media “He has had to deal with the best attacking players in the world and each time he has done very well – even in the games Celtic lost. Barcelona is a club that is always looking to add quality and its clear Forster has real quality’’.

NEW KEEPER

Barcelona will be looking for a new goalkeeper after current number one Victor Valdes announced at the start of last season that he will be leaving Barcelona in the upcoming summer.

Valdes has been at Barcelona since the start of his career and it is understood that he is seeking a new challenge. A number of names have been touted as possible replacements. This is going to be one of the highest possible positions for a goalkeeper given that Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world.

They recently came against Scottish giants Celtic in a Champions league group stage encounter, which in the Spanish club won 1-0 due to a goal from Cesc Fabregas. The margin of victory, though, could have been significantly greater because Barcelona had numerous chances over the course of 90 minutes. This was partly down to the man advantage they had after Celtic had a midfielder sent off with a straight red card. The score could have been significantly greater had it not been for the exploits of Fraser Forster, who was goal for Celtic.

After the match, defender Dani Alves has singled him out as a potential replacement for Valdes. In an interview to the Scottish daily record, he said, “We have played Celtic three times in a year now and each time Forster has been fantastic. He has had to deal with the best attacking players in the world and each time he has done very well – even in the games Celtic lost. Barcelona are a club that are always looking to add quality and it’s clear Forster has real quality.”

The club has been linked with several names like Thibaut Courtois and Pepe Reina. Recently, Reina said that he was happy to be linked with his boyhood club Barcelona.
