NO COMPLACENCY

The Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that his teammates should not get complacent after opening a massive advantage in the league table. Barcelona have been sensational under the new manager Tito Vilanova.

They have so far dropped only two points in the league all season, while they are unbeaten in the league as well. This coupled with the several problems within their arch rivals Real Madrid meant that they currently have a 15 point advantage in the table. Hence, there has been a suggestion that Barcelona might relax their approach in the forthcoming games.

The Brazilian defender Alves has said that it is easy to get complacent at this stage, but they should not forget that there are still a lot of games left in the season. Barcelona have played just 17 games in the season so far. This is the best ever start made by the club to a league season. They have a nine-point advantage over second placed Atletico Madrid, which even strengthened their position to win the fourth league title in five years. The Brazilian defender was recently linked with a move away from Barcelona, but the 29-year-old has said that he is extremely happy at the Camp Nou.

"We've built a considerable advantage because we've made the most of our opponents dropping points. But it's an advantage that we need to look after, because we still have many games left. We're only at matchday 17. We must work to extend this advantage after the resumption," said Alves. The team has managed to drop only two points – in the match against Real Madrid – all season long. However, they have already been defeated by Real Madrid and Celtic in other competitions. Barcelona will be facing AC Milan in the last 16 stage of the Champions League.
