DANI ALVES WANTS TWO YEAR DEAL OR NOTHING

Former Barcelona defender Dani Alves is taking no chances this time at Juventus as he has reportedly asked the Turin based club for a contract extension. The full back joined last term for free from Barcelona, claiming the Catalan side was ungrateful.

After helping Juve win yet another Scudetto and reach the final of the Champions League, Alves wants guarantee for his immediate future with the move. Reports in Brazil claim the 34-year old asked Juve to extend his deal to at least 2019 or he could walk away now that there are numerous prospective employers.

There are reports that Pep Guardiola could bring the player to England for a year and that Antonio Conte is willing to open talks with him. This is aside speculation over moves to the Chinese Super League and the MLS.

In 33 games, the defender scored six goals and had seven assists for Juve. He received strong commendation for his exploits in the Champions League where Juve saw off competition from various quarters including Barcelona in the knockout stage. According to research by a ticket website, his profile and performances were one of the main reasons why Juventus tickets were in such demand last season.

Anyway there were reports that Juventus wanted to offer Alves a deal in order to ward off interests but the player is more interested in the length of such deal. He was not expected to make this much contributions when he left Barca but his display sets him apart from others even at his advanced age. He continues to be a forced to be reckoned with.

At some point there were reports that the player has a secret wish to play in the Premier League after his time in Spain and Italy. The player still has two to three years of top level football left in him. For now it is likely Juve would accede to his two year deal request.
