ALVES WANTS BARCA STAY

Barcelona defender Dani Alves has confirmed that he wants to remain at the club till the end of this current contract. The Brazilian defender has been linked with a move away from Barcelona after a dip in his performances lately.

The former Sevilla defender was dropped for the second leg encounter against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final. It was a match that Barcelona managed to draw 2-2. As a result, they were eliminated from the Champions League.

Following the exit from the Champions League, Barcelona manager Guardiola announced his decision to step down from his post. Dani Alves was signed by Guardiola, which has sparked rumours that he might leave at the end of the season.

However, the Brazilian has confirmed that he wants to see out the remaining of his contract at Barcelona. The current contract of the Brazilian will not come to an end until after three years. The 28-year-old is currently regarded as one of the best right backs in the world, but he has been linked with a move to Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in recent weeks. Anzhi Makhachkala have been spending a lot of money in the recent transfer windows. They also have former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o at the club as one of the highest earners in the world.

"If I did not want to stay, I would not have renewed my contract [until 2015]. My idea is to stay until the end of my contract. But the club ultimately decides. I'm pleased because the supporters give Guardiola the recognition that he deserves. The team want to return all the love that the fans have given us," Alves said after the 4-1 victory over Malaga during the midweek match. Barcelona lost their league title after Real Madrid won a few hours later against Athletico Madrid.
